The Cancer Legal Resource Center provides cancer patients, their
families, friends, employers, and their service providers with
information and educational outreach on legal issues.

Government Agencies
Medicaid (Medical Assistance) – Medicaid is a
government health insurance program for people who need financial
assistance for medical expenses. The program is available to those
who receive Federal income assistance such as Social Security Income
and Aid to Families with Dependent Children.

Medicare – Medicare is a Federal health
insurance program designed for those who are 65 or older, or any age
with certain disabilities. Medicare helps pay for hospital and home
care, as well as many medically necessary services.

Hill-Burton Program – The Hill-Burton Program
is a program where hospitals and nonprofit medical facilities that
receive funds from the federal government offer free or low-cost
services to those unable to pay. You may apply for Hill-Burton
assistance at any time, either before or after you receive care.

State Children’s Health Insurance Program
(SCHIP) – SCHIP combines Federal and State resources to
provide affordable or free health insurance coverage to uninsured
infants, children, and teens.

The Veterans Administration (VA) – The VA
cancer program provides eligible veterans access to cancer
prevention, detection, and treatment services. There are also

a national nonprofit agency that offers cancer patients and their

is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated
